I purchased this plate set for the Corelle name of durability and style. I can honestly say that I LOVE THESE DISHES! The plates are thicker than normal Corelle sets and very sturdy. The bowls are very shallow, best for pasta. I purchased the white and black 28 oz. bowls and those are perfect for soup/cereal. Great value for the $$- would definetly recommend!
Description of Corelle Ultra 16-Piece Set, Service for 4, Tempo
Corelle's Ultra line, seventy percent thicker than the company's other lines of tableware, is so durable that Corelle backs the dinnerware with a five-year warranty against breaks and chips. The increased thickness adds heft, giving a substantive feel of quality, yet Ultra still features the compact stacking for which Corelle is famous. Ultra is amazingly tough, considering the product is made of laminated glass, and, because the enamel pigments are fired onto the dinnerware, colors and designs won't fade or scratch off over time.A striking pattern for dinner parties, especially when paired with brightly colored linens, Tempo features round white shapes with bold black borders, inside which small white squares tap out an upbeat rhythm. Providing contrast is the mug, all-black on the exterior with a single row of tiny gray squares, and white on the interior. This starter set includes four of each of the following: 10-3/4-inch dinner plate, 8-1/2-inch salad plate, 15-ounce soup or cereal bowl, and 15-ounce mug. For the ultra in convenience, Ultra is safe in a microwave and dishwasher, and may be used to reheat food in a conventional oven up to 350 degrees F. --Ann Bieri
