I replaced a forty year old set of corelle that i've been using nonstop with these. I replaced them only because my husband decided he'd like to see a new pattern. The initial set was purchased at a discount store when I had my first college apartment. They survived college, four children and everyday life at our house. I had lost a few pieces and added white corelle bowls to supplement but the original set didn't have a single chip or scratch. The new corelle are lovely and modern and fancy enough for company. I suppose it'll hold up long enough to go to the nursing home with me! I don't know how they make money, when two sets last a lifetime.
