I have used Corelle (formerly Corning Ware) for my entire life and absolutely love it. It has always been a mystery that so many people still cling to the ultra-heavy ceramic plates and bowls. They make carrying a plate full of food nearly impossible to do one-handed and they make tremendous racket when clanged together. Not so with Corelle. The plates are super light yet incredibly durable. I have dropped so many bowls and plates over the years and only remember one ever breaking (and it was about ten years old). They stack neatly, wash very easily in the dishwasher, and are nice looking. If you're considering switching from ceramic plates, do it now. You won't be disappointed. Corelle was our first dinnerware (many years ago!), and I'd forgotten how useful it is. I ordered this set for a recent outdoor dinner party, and it is perfect for that use. Nicer than paper (especially for wet foods or the use of a knife), Correlle is light, stackable, shatter resistant, and matches the red/white/blue of July 4th or the pink & aqua of a baby shower. They are so thin, they are easy to store (convenient, since I won't use them in the winter). Also, it is easy to add pieces as you need them, and the price is reasonable.
The mugs in this set are made-in-China stoneware, so although they complete the set, they are not the same. One arrived broken, but a toll-free number was included in the package and a replacement was shipped and received within the week-- no questions, no cost.

I really wanted a plain white set so it would match everything. We paired this 4-service set with a Corelle Urban Black 4-service set, and they look fantastic together. Great for mixing and matching. The Winter Frost set arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The mugs are stoneware, not the chip resistant material the plates and bowls are made from, but they are still beautiful and they do their job. I would definitely recommend this set!
