Customer Review: Practical Dinnerware.

About 30 to 35 years ago I was a bachelor and I was trying to outfit a new house with some of the basic essentials of living. A friend suggested that Corelle dinnerware would be an excellent way to initially outfit the kitchen and it wasn't so expensive that it couldn't be thrown out later when my tastes became more defined. I purchased a set (service of eight) at a local Handyman Store (now defunct). My set (8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 8 bowls, 8 cups and 8 saucers) most closely approximates two of this listed set, plus it contained two serving bowls and two serving platters. The imprinted pattern was different, but otherwise the set was probably very similar to this and many of the other Corelle dinnerware sets presently available. Evidently, my particular pattern and set is no longer manufactured.
I could not be more satisfied with this product. It has received almost daily use since the time of purchase. It simply doesn't scratch or chip no matter what happens to it. In a couple of cases, I accidentally dropped items onto a concrete floor and they shattered into thousands of small fragments. At other times, a few of the dropped items bounced, but didn't break. This stuff will really take a beating and it always looks like new. I'm amazed! You can bake it. You can microwave it. It takes no special care. Just toss it in the dishwasher and it comes out looking great. If you're seeking practical, everyday tableware, this Corelle dinnerware just can't be beat.
Well, now I'm getting married and I'm revamping the house and it's contents. My fianc?e has been pressuring me to get rid of the Corelle dinnerware. She says it's boring and inelegant. Well, that's true, but I'm not Mr. Exitement. My argument is from the practical point of view and she admits the Corelle would be hard to beat. How is this all going to play out? Well, we've been together three years and the Corelle is still there.
